CEO of My Foster Family Embarks on the Spiritual Pilgrimage to Hajj

Hajj, one of the five pillars of Islam, is the Muslim pilgrimage to Makkah that is an obligation of a Muslim to carry out at least once in their lifetime. The blessed month of Dhul Hijjah is upon us, the month where pilgrims go to Hajj one of the world’s largest annual gathering of people following the footsteps of our beloved Prophet Muhammed (PBUH). Following the
Hajj Muslims around the world celebrate the festival of Eid Al Adha.

My Foster Family CEO, Shadim Hussain has been blessed with the opportunity to perform the Hajj pilgrimage this year and the team at My Foster Family and well wishers have been following his updates from the ground.

“Alhumdulilah with the blessings of Allah I was granted permission to join millions of others on Hajj this year. I will leave for Mina on Friday morning insha’Allah followed by the day of Arafat on Saturday.

The Day of Arafah is the 9th Day of Dhul-Hijjah, the last month in the Islamic calendar. On this day, the pilgrims performing Hajj gather on the mountain planes of Arafah asking Allah, the Most Merciful, to forgive them. That is why it is called The Day of Arafah.

Just like how Laylat-ul-Qadr is the greatest night of the year, the Day of Arafah is by far the greatest day of the year in the sight of Allah. What makes this day so special is that Allah forgives the sins of the Hajj pilgrims standing on Arafah.

‘A’isha (May Allah be pleased with her) reported that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said:

“There is no day when God sets free more servants from Hell than the Day of Arafah. He draws near, then praises them to the angels, saying: What do these (people) want?” (Muslim 1348)

The amazing thing about this journey has been seeing the diversity, unity of Muslims from across different countries.”

This Hajj season My Foster Family and Mercy Mission will be fundraising for our Eid Al Adha gift boxes. Please support our gift boxes to help us educate non-Muslim carers about important of Hajj and Eid and show some love to children living in care, many of whom are refugees, orphans or living a long distance from any family.  These gift boxes will be a  testament to being a good gesture and could make a difference to a foster child’s life.

We would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate all those who have set out to Hajj this year and hope that you have an enlightening and spiritual journey ahead!
