“A gift from a friend is a wish for your happiness” Richard Bach
We had a really busy week last week. We packed and sent 300 gift boxes to children in care across 22 local authorities. It was a great collective effort thanks to our volunteers and businesses that contributed towards the gift box. A gift is a great way of expressing gratitude to the carer for going above and beyond caring for a child and creating a warm and loving home and environment.
For the foster child, a gift signals a reinforcement that people care. Our hope is that with this small token of a gift we can have a positive impact on the child who has gone through a traumatic experience.
The gift boxes contain;
- chocolates for the foster carer as well as sweets for the child
- A perfume for the carer
- Books for the child (different book dependant on the age of the child)
- A resource guide for carers whoa re looking after a child from the different faith, and contact details to offer support in any capacity we can.
- Poster for the child
This is also a great way of raising awareness within our communities and like this time it would be great to have more businesses that are interested in contributing towards the gift boxes so we can carry on putting a smile on the children’s face and spread the smile far beyond the 300 gift boxes.
